  1. Right-click on the icon that loads your MicroStation

  2. Left-click on PROPERTIES

  3. You should now be looking at something similar to this

  4. At the end of the TARGET, add a space and then -debug

  5. Click on <OK>.

  7. When the text has finished scrolling, hit the enter key to close the text window.

Q- I downloaded and installed some newer versions of products from your website. The PDF documentation that I have is for an older version of the product. Things look different and I'm not sure how to use some of the new features. How can I get the newest PDF files?

A- That's easy. Today most Internet browsers allow you to visit unrestricted ftp sites. Type in ftp://ftp.axiomint.com for the internet address. You should see quite a good number of files with .EXE and .PDF extensions (amongst a few others). If you downloaded FileFixer, the file that you downloaded was FIXER.EXE. The manual has the same name, but a .PDF extension. So for FileFixer, you should download FIXER.PDF. For Global File Changer, download CHANGER.PDF, etc. If you use an ftp client to get there, the User ID is Anonymous and the Password is your email address.

Q- I have your MicroStation Productivity Toolkit installed with out MicroStation J. I tried running your products with our newly installed MicroStation V8 and it looks like the products don't work. What's up with that?

A- The compiled MDL application (*.MA) may or may not be compatible with MicroStation V8. There are separate products for V8 — you can see which products are available and their current versions here — if you are migrating to MicroStation V8 and need the products available for V8, please contact your MicroStation Consultant.

Q- I just downloaded an upgrade from your website at ftp://ftp.axiomint.com - How do I get the license I need?

A- Send an email to license@axiomint.com and indicate which product you downloaded. Our licensing department will be more than happy to update your license file, providing that your maintenance is current.

Q- I use PowerDraft! Can I use your products with PowerDraft?

A- Sorry, the Axiom products do not work with PowerDraft. PowerDraft requires that all applications are 100% MDL applications. All of the Axiom products for MicroStation use external DLLs which are not supported by PowerDraft.

Q- I want to make a change with Global File Changer to some of my design files and then run FileFixer on the same files? Do I need to hunt and choose all of those files again?

A- No. You can build a list of files with Global File Changer and save the list. You can then open the list and use it with FileFixer. This works with most products that have an <EDIT LIST> feature. Here's how to do that:

  1. Click on <EDIT LIST>.
  2. Build your file list.
  3. Click on LIST | EXPORT | FILE LIST ONLY (TEXT) and choose a file name to save your file list.
  4. In this example, process the files with Global File Changer and then Exit Global File Changer
  5. In this case, open FileFixer (or it could be another product)
  6. Again, click on <EDIT LIST>
  7. This time, click on LIST | IMPORT | FILE LIST ONLY (TEXT)

Now the same files are selected and you can process the same files with the second product, in this case FileFixer. This is also useful if you want to process the same files multiple times on different days with the same product.

Q- I was asked to get the CPUID2 for the products that I have installed. How do I do that?

A- Basically, the CPUID2 is a number which serializes the products to one computer. You only need this if you have a Single-CPU license. To obtain this number, go to your Axiom Base Directory and find the file CPUID2.EXE - from Windows Explorer double-click on CPUID2.EXE. This will open a DOS window and there will be some numbers that look like an IP Address - like 123.456.789.012 - this is the number that the licensing department needs to email your permanent license.

Q- Many of your products allow me to choose and process multiple files. It sure would be nice to be able to choose a drive or directory and automatically get all of the design files in all of the subdirectories also.

A- For those products that you can choose and process multiple files, there is already a provision built in: "/s". For example, to process all of the .DGN file on your entire drive C:\ drive, enter "C:\*.dgn/s" in the "Files to process" field. If you want to also process files with a different extension on the same drive, enter "C:\*.DGN/S; C:\*.BDR/s for example. This works with multiple directories also.

Q- You make references to the AXIOM BASE DIRECTORY - where is that?

A- The AXIOM BASE DIRECTORY is the directory that usually contains your installed AXIOM.LIC file. This AXIOM.LIC is your master license for all of the Axiom products that you have installed. The AXIOM BASE DIRECTORY contains subdirectories like \AXIMENU, \FIXER, \CHANGER, \CHECKER, etc. It can also be found by opening MicroStation and clicking on WORKSPACE | CONFIGURATION - locate the AXI variable and highlight it. The expansion for AXI is the AXIOM BASE DIRECTORY.
